Date night in: Valentine's edition, part 1

I know I'm technically a little late for Monday, but I wanted to do a special feature this week for Valentine's Day.  I know a lot of folks out there are tight on cash, but that shouldn't stop anyone from celebrating.  So I wanted to share a few ideas for affordable date nights in.

The recipes will feature easy, yet yummy, fixes for two, so whether you're a culinary expert or an amateur, you can easily make any of the dishes.  Also, recipes can easily be multiplied to serve a larger number of people.  If you're single, get some girlfriends together and celebrate your love for each other!  Don't let Valentine's get you down...perk up!

Hot and cold

'Tis the season, and Caleb and I are hosting our first Christmas party as a married couple tonight.  I have a cute outfit planned, which I'll post pictures of tomorrow since it will be a late night.


We decided to do a white elephant gift exchange because, let's face it, they're fun!  We asked guests to bring their favorite dessert, and we're providing drinks.


Since winter is fast approaching, we'll be serving traditional hot drinks - hot coco, apple cider, various teas, and coffee (with the option of Kahlua...yum).  However, we also wanted to have some cold options, so we decided to do a couple of pomegranate drinks.  The first is a pomegranate punch.  To make it, I'll use 12 oz. of pomegranate tequila (which we bought on our honeymoon in Cancun), 2 bottles of sparkling white grape juice, frozen pomegranate juice for the ice, and garnish with lemon and lime slices.  Should be good!  We'll also offer pomegranate mimosas because, well, you can't go wrong with champagne.
