Computer illiterate

Although I often wish I had a better understanding of techie stuff, sometimes I feel completely computer illiterate.  I'm having some memory card issues that I'm trying to figure out how to resolve, but, unfortunately, Google isn't being good to me today.  In fact, I've been having difficulties pretty much all weekend trying to figure this situation out.

Unfortunately, this means I'll continue to be way behind on outfit posts.  On top of that, I wanted to kick off my Etsy shop tomorrow, and now I'm not sure that's possible.  I am excited to get back into the swing of regular blogging and start my new Etsy venture, filled with lots of pretty handmade jewelry, so hopefully it won't be too long before things are back to normal!!

The big 5-0

Fortunately, I'm not talking about my age...

Welcome to my 50th post!!

Sorry, again, for the lack of content this week.  I'd love to bore you with explanations, but I'll save that for another post and make up for it with an outfit.

I've been a little enamored with some of my thrifted pieces lately, and yesterday I was drawn to a more recent thrift purchase: an oversized vintage sweater.  There's not much to it - it's just super comfy.  This makes it perfect for sitting through 3 hours of class.  In fact, I've really been gravitating toward super comfy pieces in general.

And while we're on the topic, I'll point out that you don't have to be bogged down in sweat pants and a faded hoodie to feel comfortable.  That's what I love about fashion - there's always an alternative.  Next time you're craving a day in sweats, I challenge you to search your closet for something equally comfortable, but more fashion-forward and true to your aesthetic.  I promise your closet won't disappoint.

Comfy and cold

Howdy, there!  I hope your weekend is off to a fabulous start.  Caleb and I kicked off our weekend by watching way too many episodes of 30 Days on Netflix.  Once we get hooked on something, it's hard to break the habit.  Good thing our vices are merely television series!

Moving right into fashion...  I wore this outfit to class the night the front came in.  I kept it comfy because, well, class is nearly three hours long, and while I am so excited to study globalization on Wednesday nights, sitting that long in one place isn't exactly exhilarating.  It's not unusual to catch me sitting cross-legged in class or see my knees pulled up to my chest as I lean on them pensively (my brain works better that way), so jeans were a wise choice.  I'll inevitably stray from this, since I find myself attracted to dresses and skirts more often than practicality permits me, but I thought I'd stick to a flash-free ensemble for the first night.  (And I promise I sit more lady-like when I dress the part.)

Enough philosophical ramblings about my choice - it was darn comfy.  I wanted this cardi the moment I saw it.  It's perfectly baggy, and I'm actually wearing a sweater underneath, so it provided plenty of warmth.  The scarf, which was part of my Christmas gift from Caleb, is super soft, so I quite enjoyed fiddling with it throughout the day.  What do you think?  Did he pick a good one out?

And how are you surviving the cold, lovelies?  I was born in the Mediterranean and raised in Texas, so I find myself to be entirely cold-blooded.  In other words, I'm freezing my hiney off in this current chill.  I suppose it's better to be cold-blooded than cold-hearted, so all is well, I suppose.

A little explanation

Sorry for the lack of content this week.  I have fibromyalgia, and I'm especially sensitive to climate changes.  With the weather going loco lately, I haven't been feeling all that well.  I finally started to feel better Tuesday (when I wore this outfit), and then another front came in last night.  I felt awful yesterday.

Luckily, an epsom salt bath with an aspercream rub down from the hubby helped relieve some of my achiness, and I do feel a lot better today.  Here's hoping that it stays that way!!

On a lighter note, I love these tights!  Aren't they fun?!

I hope your week is going magnificently so far.  Tomorrow's Friday...get excited!

Splendiferous secrets: Oldie but goodie

Today's secret is one that many of you probably already know about, but I figured I'd share it for those of you who don't.

While I was putting my tights on this morning, I had the ultimate "darnit!" moment as I realized there was a slight run in my tights.  While there is nothing I could do to completely mend the catastrophe, I knew how to prevent it from worsening:

Nail polish.

Just dab a little clear nail polish around the run, let dry, and you're set!

Do you have any secrets regarding tights or hose?

Splendiferous steals: Embracing femininity

I love being a female and all that comes with it...okay, MOST of what comes with it.

But there are definitely no exceptions in fashion.  I love all things girly, and I think it's important for women to embrace their feminine sides.

Therefore, today's post features items that are wonderfully feminine.  They're girly and pretty, and I hope they'll remind you of the beautiful woman you are.

Nothing says feminine like a pretty floral print.  Incorporate this staple print in a different way with this purse from Asos.

What little girl didn't want to be a ballerina?  Channel you inner-[fashionable]child and look pretty-in-pink with this tu-tu from Forever 21.

There's something about a brooch that is just so classy and demure.  This gorgeous brooch will add a touch of class and femininity to any outfit.

I love a pretty flat, and this one is simple, yet pretty, enough to finish off your favorite outfit.

We all love to layer, especially in this year's harsh winter, but it's easy to get bogged down under so many clothes.  Let these pretty little flowers peep out of your layers to feel girly and pretty, even when the weather isn't.

A black replacement

My little sister, Sarah, and I tried to see Black Swan for the second time yesterday, and, for the second time, we were turned away due to projector issues.  Woe is us.

Instead of wallowing in our sorrow for the second day in a row, we soared to the other end of the movie genre spectrum and saw True Grit, since Sarah had been wanting to see that, as well.  I'd never seen the original, so I had nothing to compare it to, but I thought it was a decent movie.  It definitely wasn't the Natalie Portman flick I'd been craving, but I guess I'll save that review for another time.  I will see you one day, Black Swan!!

In the mean time, here's a black shirt.  Okay, so it has white polka dots, but close enough.

A little bit of cheese

Ya dig the saddle?

Last night, my sisters, niece, mom, and I visited some friends of the family, Rachel and Ruby.  We hung out at their ranch and played the Michael Jackson game for Wii, which, surprisingly, I was pretty darn good at, and ate at a local Italian place, where I had a killer calzone.  Before I left, Rachel, snapped some photos of me - fun ranch props included.

I felt a little cheesy, but let's face it...I take pictures of myself and have a fashion blog - I'm a cheesy person.  But, hey, at least I'm in good company.  :)

As for the skirt I'm wearing, you saw it here, but I decided to remix it!  Which look do you prefer?
