I gave the blog a[nother] face lift!

I thought I'd make it more simple and clean.  Let me know what you think!

Weekend catch-up: Blogger meet-up and the Oscars

This past weekend was fabulous!  On Saturday, I attended a DFW blogger meet-up organized by Kileen of Cute and Little, and it was so much fun!  Just look at all that fashion in that picture!

Silly things

Some times I do some pretty silly things.  Say, for instance, spending 20 minutes taking photos of myself with a self-timer only to realize that I forgot to put my jewelry on.  Oops!!

Accidentally stylish

Perhaps Pantone was right about this honeysuckle thing...

Or maybe I just happen to have a lot of honeysuckle hues in my wardrobe already, so I'm glad it's saving me some money.

Either way, this outfit was a bit of an accident.

The magical glowing Jess

Wow, Texas has warmed up FAST!

I wore this simple, no-fuss outfit to run errands with Caleb on Friday, and the high was 79 degrees.  Winter's not even over yet!  I could have worn a skirt...without tights!  Craziness.  Honestly, I would have if my legs wouldn't have been so prickly.  ;)

Juxtaposition

I love fashion.  It's just so fun to play around with!

I was still gravitating toward really feminine pieces like my super springy outfit, but I decided to switch it up.  I couldn't resist this lacy blouse, but instead of wearing it as feminine as possible (which wouldn't be anything out of the ordinary for me), I decided to add a little bit of edge to it.

FBFF: Body Image

It's that time of the week, lovely bloggers!  It's Friday, so it's FBFF time!

This week's questions have to deal with body image.  A great big thank you, as always, to the beautiful Katy of Modly Chic for putting this together!  And with no further ado...

It's beginning to feel a lot like spring-time

It feels like spring!!  It's so hard to believe that there was snow on the ground just a week ago.  This only further demonstrates the bi-polar nature of Texas weather.  You never know what to expect!

While I love bundling up with cute scarves, I've mention before that I am a certified wuss when it comes to cold weather.  I don't know weather or not (haha) the warmth is here to stay, but I've been taking full advantage of 70 degree weather.

Some colors are more equal than others

I usually think I look awful in red, but this deeper cranberry color always tends to catch my eye.  I've learned that jewel tones complement my skin tone better than most brights.

Are there any colors that you think just don't suit you?  You know...colors that you put on and just feel like, how shall I say, bleh?  Hear my sad story [enter violins playing somber music]...

Night out

Last night, I attended a bachelor/bachelorette party.  The guys and gals ate dinner at separate restaurants, and then we all met up at Pete's Dueling Piano Bar.  Afterward, some of us when to the bachelorette's apartment to hang out some more.

What's in a dress?

From the moment I picked this dress off the rack, I knew it would become a favorite.  Almost every time I put an outfit together, I'm drawn to this flowery frock.  I've resisted the urge to repeat this dress over and over, but today I thought the time had come to let it see daylight again.

Date night in: Valentine's edition, part 4

I'm a tad late for Thursday, but Caleb was using the computer.  You forgive me, right?  :)

Tonight's recipe is definite comfort food.  If you're looking for an easy, classic dish that promises to please a simple pallet, then this is it.

Date night in: Valentine's edition, part 3

I love breakfast foods, and one of my all-time favorites is french toast.  If you're like me, breakfast is great at anytime of the day.  Therefore, you can prepare this delicious dish as breakfast-in-bed for your honey, or save it for dinner like I did.

So, with no further ado...

Cinnamon Raisin French Toast with Cream Cheese Topping

Indoor photos and more snow

I kept yesterday's outfit clean and simple.  I wasn't at all in a fussy mood.  I do love this plum color of the shirt, though.  I'm a big fan of jewel tones.

An emerging favorite

This white lace skirt has been one of my favorites to remix this season.  I was excited when I picked it up on a thrifting venture in December for just $3 with the tags still attached, but it's proven to be even more versatile than I thought. You can see the other ways I've worn it here and here.

Date night in: Valentine's edition, part 1

I know I'm technically a little late for Monday, but I wanted to do a special feature this week for Valentine's Day.  I know a lot of folks out there are tight on cash, but that shouldn't stop anyone from celebrating.  So I wanted to share a few ideas for affordable date nights in.

The recipes will feature easy, yet yummy, fixes for two, so whether you're a culinary expert or an amateur, you can easily make any of the dishes.  Also, recipes can easily be multiplied to serve a larger number of people.  If you're single, get some girlfriends together and celebrate your love for each other!  Don't let Valentine's get you down...perk up!

My first recipe is Fiery Fish Tacos.

June's first snow

After Caleb got home from work Thursday night, we decided to take June out in the snow while it was still falling.  It snowed a wee little bit earlier this year, but June never went out in it.  So I threw on a fleece over my pj's and put on beanie, and we bundled June up in a sweater and jacket and took her outside.

Makeover!

I just gave my blog a face lift!

Let me know what you think!

Etsy shop

I am continuing to add items to my Etsy shop, Splendiferously Yours.

To see the items I've added so far, click here.

I still have at least 60 items to post, but everything will be posted in good time.  I am by no means of the imagination a photographer, so learning to take good close-up shots of jewelry is kind of an experiment for me.  Slowly but surely, I'll get all my pieces photographed, edited, and put in the store.

I've been making jewelry as a hobby for a while now, so I'm excited to see what the rest of the world thinks about my creations.  Feel free to check out the store and let me know what you think!

If you have not yet visited the store, I make a variety of jewelry - everything from eclectic to earthy to dainty to fabulous and fun.  I have a wide taste of style, and my jewelry reflects that.  I also priced my pieces very competitively.  My goal isn't to make tons of money off my shop - it's to share one of my passions with the world.

For always, I'm Splendiferously Yours.

It's June!

And by June, I of course mean my wonderful pup.  I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but our adorable little dog was a wedding gift, and since Caleb and I married in June, we named our sweet girl after the memorable month.  June is a wonderful companion, and she keeps me company while I study, work, and do, well, everything else I do around the house.  In fact, she's sleeping on my lap as I type.  She's so precious.

Check it out here!

I have TONS of items to post, so it is definitely still a work in progress, but I am so excited to get it started!

A [slightly] warmer day

After much frustration, I got the memory card to work...hooray!

I am beyond excited to get things kicking again!!  However, today I spent the day in my pajamas.  Winter has attacked Texas with a mighty force.
